Quote of the day

La citation du jour

"The ideal time to do hitbodeduth is the night." (Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, Likutey Moharan I, 52)

Comment: Hitbodeduth is the personal prayer that we say every day to G-d, in our language and according to what is happening in our daily lives. Although it is possible to do hitbodeduth any time, the best is the night.

An important aspect of hitbodeduth is to "forget" ourselves and to give all its prominence to the will of the Creator. Thus, we understand why it not easy to move towards that direction if we do hitbodeduth in the middle of the afternoon in a crowded place!

Whether we want to go to a forest, a field or any other quiet place, it can be difficult to reach it in the middle of the night. In addition, there is no question of attending dangerous places. Also, at a time when more and more women want to practice hitbodeduth, it is obviously not advised for them to go out alone at night! In all cases, each person must use his or her intelligence to know what to do best; the most important thing is to be able to talk to Hashem in the best conditions, regardless of the location we do it.
